Jesse James - I Know I'll Never Find Another One / Need Your Love So Bad

I'm in awe of Jesse James. His vocal sound and style is very familiar and comfortable to me, like James Brown meets Little Willie John, but way more soulful. Yes, it is possible to sound more soulful than the godfather of soul. The proof is right here. This is a killer two-sider. "I Know I'll Never Find Another One" plays off of major 7 chords beautifully, much akin to songs like "What Does It Take (To Win You Love For Me)' from Jr Walker & the All-Stars and "Soulful Strut" from Young-Holt Unlimited. Both of those songs make the hair on my arms stand up every time I hear them, and now I can add another to that list. It's that good. Now, his version of "Need Your Love So Bad" is, dare I say it, better than Little Willie John's and James Brown's (both 1968 and 1975 versions). Even Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac's version. Hell, I'll even go as far as better than all four combined. His voice has that certain pleading that really tugs at your heart. Genuinely. Even more so than JB's "Please, Please, Please"... and that's the quintessential pleading R&B track. And those drums. Damn. Those drums just kill. I'll shut up now. Enjoy. :)
