Roger Glover & Friends feat. Ronnie James Dio - Love Is All

"Love Is All" is from an incredibly diverse concept album based on a children's poem titled The Butterfly Ball and the Grasshopper's Feast. The man at the helm, Roger Glover, is better known for his involvement with Deep Purple, but this ambitious project was also a live rock opera and a super-cool animated movie, and thankfully appreciated more and more as time goes on. The a-side track didn't do too well on the charts in the UK or the US, but was a #1 hit in the Netherlands & Belgium, and #10 in Australia. I am definitely on board with the "sunshine and rainbows" Ronnie James Dio. Man, he had such a strong vocal range in his younger years! The b-side, "Waiting" has Jimmy Helms on lead vocals, and it seems out of place on this 45. It needs the context of the songs before and after it on the full album for it to be truly appreciated... as it should be. You buy the single, love it, and buy the LP soon after. That's how the game was played in vinyl's heyday. Great record.
