This is definitely the version that inspired Ike & Tina's smash hit rendition 3 years after this Phil Spector Wall of Sound recording. It's equally as stellar, maybe even more-so than Ike & Tina's, as Sonny Charles's voice and Tina's have very similar qualities. Add the wall of sound production, and it's larger than life. Awesome recording. "Spanish Harlem" is as quaint as the Ben E King OG, and shows the true dynamics of Charles & the Checkmates, ltd. Incredibly underrated.
