Who filled in for the late John Bonham on drums during Led Zeppelin’s reunion at Live Aid in 1985? Here’s a hint. He performed at the event in the US and the UK on the same day! That’s pretty amazing, but this artist was at the pinnacle of his career as a solo act, and with his band, at the time Live Aid happened. The answer is… Phil Collins. Collins was brought into the set by Robert Plant, and what ensued afterwards was very hard to watch and hear… so much so, that the Zeppelin boys removed it from the broadcast and further publishing. Phil Collins' other performances at Live Aid were solid, and shows he was at the top of his game, a place he would remain well into the next decade. Plant, Page, & Jones redeemed themselves in 2007 when they reunited for one show with John Bonham’s son Jason behind the kit. That reunion was released as Celebration Day in 2012.
