That's How That #1 Song Was Written?!

What #1 70s song is said to have the smallest known writing credit of the decade? Here’s a hint: it involves two of the biggest names in rock and roll history. The answer is… David Bowie’s "Fame". What started as a musical workout created by session player Carlos Alomar, turned into something that caught the ears of Bowie and his then-collaborator, John Lennon. When Lennon sang the word “aim” over the funky instrumental, Bowie heard another similar word in its place, making the structure of what was to become Bowie’s first number one hit in the US. For his efforts (which included rhythm guitar) and inspiration, Lennon was given songwriting credit.
