OSA Plays the Record: The Heartbeats - Boil and Bubble / Finally

I'm gonna just come right out and say it. Dollar bins rule. They're getting rare these days... thank you inflation. But, they're still out there, and record store owners are still putting awesome records in there for all of us to find. If the Heartbeats record featured here weren't in the dollar bin, I would have never bought it.

Yep, I'm a cheapskate. I prefer the word frugal, though.

So, "Boil and Bubble" is the a-side here, and it's a nice up-tempo jump blues / doo wop hybrid, so to speak. That snappy snare in the backbeat reminds me of the Atlantic house-band drum sound on their 50s R&B classics. This is good stuff. The b-side, "Finally", is a slow vocal group ballad much like all of those sugary-sweet doo-wop hits of the same era. Is this record stellar? Not quite. Is it something I'll pull out of the archives and play again in the future? Damn right it is.
