He Was First Pick For Vocalist Of That Band?!

Who was Jimmy Page’s first pick for lead singer of The New Yardbirds AKA Led Zeppelin? Here’s a hint. His recordings have been featured in a few of Rob Zombie’s movies, including The Devil’s Rejects. The answer is… Terry Reid. Terry was already a big name when it came to British singers in the 60s. When Page approached him in 1968, Reid was already signed to Epic records, and had released his first solo LP, titled Bang Bang, You’re Terry Reid. With all of that going for him at the time, he graciously turned down the offer. In return, Reid told Page he needed to go see another young wailer named Robert Plant. We know what comes next for Page. Reid on the other hand released fantastic albums to little accord in the 70s. His album Seed Of Memory, produced by Graham Nash, is now considered a cult classic, but it wasn’t rightly appreciated until the mid-2000s, thanks to the inclusion of his music in Rob Zombie’s films.
