What album from The Who was created from remnants of their abandoned second rock musical project named Lifehouse? Here’s a hint. Pete Townshend released home recordings of selected material that didn’t make the final cut on a record titled Who Came First. The answer is… Who’s Next. With songs as good as “Won’t Get Fooled Again”, “Baba O Riley”, and “Behind Blue Eyes”, who needs a concept? Well, the Lifehouse project was incredibly ambitious, with a story that’s based on the power and beauty one note exudes and the song that defines the basis of that story, “Pure and Easy”. There are a few deluxe edition versions of Who’s Next that have this track and others omitted from the project Their compilation LP Odds & Sods also has a version of “Pure and Easy”, as does Townshend’s solo LP Who Came First. Townshend has also finished the project solo, releasing it on his own Eel Pie record label in the early 2000s.
